mystery flowers

There were loads of plants that I just did not even recognise on our California trip, also many that only grow indoors at home.

Here are two - anyone know what they are?

Cayucos is a little like St Ives Cornwall where I grew up.

Here is a video taken about 9:30 in the morning on the beach. I really liked this little town. The folks were really welcoming. It's quite near Monterey and Carmel, also St Luis Obispo.

Can recommend the Seaside Motel, The Schooner Wharf and Sea Shanty Diner (phenomenal desserts).

Californian video

My video technique needs some work! They all seem to end with a shot of my feet....

This was taken driving down the coast road near Monterey.

Just got home from California!

We had a great tour. Started with two days in SF with my niece and new nephew and a treat at Greens restaurant. Then a stop in Oakland to watch the Golden State Warriors, they lost by 4 points but a great game.
A tour down the coast road (with the top down on the car) to Monterey, Cayucos and a visit to Hearst castle. Also had a look around Stanford campus and Santa Clara in San Jose.
Finally two days in half Moon Bay and then to Sonoma for an incredibly moving wedding (aforementioned niece and nephew).
Back to Blighty but the memory of warm sand between my toes at 9:30 a.m. and listening to the surfers in Cayucos, and a walk on the board walk at Santa Cruz, the flowers (I may give up veg growing and go over to floral displays if I ever live in California), the blue sky and the stunning coast will keep me going for a long time to come.
Just a few pics above - maybe more soon.
