knitting

I've finally discovered that if I concentrate I can knit things other than rectangles! Cannot show all my little gems here yet as some are gifts for people who might spot them but here's a little teddy ...

Well, a bit like life then, focus, concentration, perseverance

knitting = life or life = knitting?

looks pretty

Yes the yellow autumn leaves against the grey sky - looks pretty but in reality both were taunting me - the leaves wait till I have spent an hour sweeping others up then they fall! The sky kept playing cat and mouse with me as I dodged the rain today, sweeping, raking, pruning and staking. The 'shrubbery' looks a lot better now though and maybe I'll plant out a few spring bulbs in the area that I've cleared.

Here's the view from the shed as I took shelter from one shower.

Coffee break over - back to work .... still sometimes work is fun!

textile spirals

I have spent a happy couple of hours again today preparing Maths lessons for next week. With Year 9 I'll be starting on angles in polygons. Thought I'd start by introducing keywords like vertices, edges and faces and hopefully get them interested with a huge flexagon -
video

Then I was looking at Year 10 starting on patterns and sequences and there are loads of great videos on YouTube for this (many thanks to @mathhombre on Twitter for pointing me towards Vi Hart and her Mathematical doodles.

That got me thinking about creating a bit of 'art' which might also engage the class.

well I had fun, hope the students do too
