reminders

Spoke to my brother today and he reminded me of this from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings:

“Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

That was the year that was

An interesting year numerically. I was born in 56 and I was 56 this year. If you add 56 + 56 = 112 and it's the twelfth year of the century. There were other more auspicious dates generally such as 12.12.12 of course and 10.11.12 and so on.

There have been many good things, like my son's graduation with his BA degree.

Work has had its ups and downs.

I've done a lot of reading, knitting, crafting and a bit of gardening. Had some nice holidays and events.  I have valued friends (real life and virtual) and their help and support. I've spent some good times with family.

On balance, it's good to move forwards though.

“I try to avoid looking forward or backward, and try to keep looking upward.” ― Charlotte Brontë

Wishing everyone peace and happiness at this time of the year.
